Willms & Shier Environmental Lawyers LLP, a premier environmental law firm in Canada, approached Cubicle Fugitive to modernize its website from a design and functional perspective. The firm sought a fresh, clean, and minimalist design. The firm preferred white space to achieve a contemporary and uncluttered appearance. Overall, the client was looking for a fresh new website that prioritized the user journey and provided easy access to their team, services, and insights.

The strategically minimalist nature of the website design ensures that users can navigate the website free from distraction. This approach allows users to access relevant content quickly and seamlessly. Strong, saturated imagery was used to contrast the clean, white background, with select images representing key practice areas prominently featured on the homepage banner. We sourced and cropped vibrant photos for each main practice area to be incorporated throughout the rest of the website, maintaining consistency with the homepage’s aesthetic.

We delivered a modern, user-friendly website that beautifully balances simplicity with vibrant imagery, enhancing user engagement and brand representation.

In addition to the overall design enhancements, we implemented a rotating showcase of the firm’s lawyers on the homepage, randomly displaying four lawyers at a time and automatically updating every six seconds. This feature ensured that all team members had equal visibility, aligning with the firm’s value of inclusivity and prominence for all staff.

To elevate the site’s functionality, we incorporated several key features. Our team designed printable PDFs for lawyer bios and areas of expertise, ensuring that users could easily access and share detailed information. Additionally, a jump menu was integrated into the bio detail pages, allowing users to navigate quickly between different sections without scrolling. These functional improvements not only enhanced the user experience but also provided practical tools for users to engage more deeply with the content.

The final result was a minimalistic, user-friendly website that effectively represented Willms & Shier’s brand and practice areas. The enhanced design and functional elements significantly improved user engagement and provided a more dynamic platform for the firm’s online presence. The firm’s commitment to both innovation and accessibility reinforces its reputation as a forward-thinking leader in environmental law.
