Typical website process:
Strategy and discovery.
This is the foundation of everything we do and includes a thorough analysis of the firm, it’s people, culture, and clients. This informs all aspects of the design, architecture, content, photography, and development of the new website.
Information architecture.
In this phase, we review current site analytics for user experiences and reimagine the user-journey to ensure it is intuitive and engaging, and that the critical content paths guide each visitor to the desired points of contact. We provide a detailed site architecture map with recommended functionality, interlinking, search, and design details. This document helps to ensure both parties have a clear understanding of the new site architecture prior to design.
Finalize content strategy.
Depending upon the needs of the firm, we can have our internal copywriters research and write any desired content (e.g. brand and website copy, practice areas, and lawyer bios) to ensure consistency and optimization of key terminology across all of the firm’s online content.
On-page SEO strategy.
Depending upon the importance of generating new leads online, we often recommend additional search engine optimization (SEO) research and analysis which includes a review of client and competitor service offerings and an analysis of terminology through keyword analytics software to ensure page titles, headlines, content, and metadata are targeted for the firm’s service offerings.
Wireframes and mapping of the brand to the home page.
We take great care to visualize the firm’s brand in an online format that maximizes both the user-experience and consistently portrays the firm’s voice and points of differentiation. We provide prototypes of the overall experience with sample transitions and provide examples of desired functionality for consideration.
Custom design the firm’s new website.
Once an overall look and feel is established for the home page and a site map agreed upon, we will custom design all key sections of the firm’s website including the overall site design, all main pages, and mobile functionality. Our websites are never designed from templates and are always custom-built to properly reflect your brand.
Photography.
We work with the firm to ensure the right look and vision is achieved for custom and stock photography and routinely assist with art directing lawyer or other professionals and firm photography shoots, as well as sourcing, treating, and finalizing the stock images for campaigns, collateral, and websites.
Website development and technology.
Once the design and scope are finalized, we build out all the agreed-upon functionality and custom modules for our clients. Our websites are fully-featured including everything you would need to run a successful site including bio management, service and industry modules, fully searchable resource modules, case and matter management, news, blogs, publication databases, document management, and much more.
Content migration.
We migrate all current content, new content, and digital assets to the new platform. We have the expertise in place to auto-migrate content from many current CMS platforms.
Having built hundreds of websites for firms since 2003, we have developed tools that enable us to seamlessly migrate content from almost any database. While newly developed content often needs to be migrated manually, much of a firm’s substantive content can be auto-migrated through the development of custom scripts from your current database to ours.
If the firm takes the opportunity to revise their services and practices, this will have implications for the migration and remapping of content. We try to make the process as easy as possible for clients by providing tools and direction on how best to handle this for a smooth carry-over of content from one database to another.
We will work together with the firm’s marketing department to provide guidance, structure, new content, or simply editing of content for SEO. We will ensure none of your content is left behind and our team of developers will make sure the process for rebuilding your firm’s website and migrating your vast resources is as seamless and painless as possible. Testing and review.
During this phase, we will test all aspects of the website and provide a functional site for your review and approvals. This includes testing in all grade A browsers as well as a suite of mobile platforms.
Training and maintenance.
We will provide initial training for as many people as necessary that covers how to administer all aspects of the website including page creation, content editing, and much more. We supply all files necessary to properly manage your website including graphics and templates. Once training is complete, all updates can be performed internally but, of course, are always on-call should you require our services or support.
