Little Peoples Daycare: Website
Project
Located in Hamilton, Ontario, Little Peoples Daycare is a licensed childcare centre for children ages 12 months to Senior Kindergarten and for children ages 6-9 on PD days, school holidays, and during the summer months. As a pillar in the community since
1974, Little Peoples Daycare promotes loving care in a Christian environment where children are valued as capable and competent. Families at Little Peoples Daycare can feel safe and reassured that their child’s well-being is nurtured by a warm
and positive environment.
With a longstanding relationship with Little Peoples Daycare, Cubicle Fugitive was approached to assist with the design and development of a new website that would act as a vehicle in increasing awareness and promoting its value to families and the community at large. Like most small businesses, Little Peoples Daycare and their families were dramatically affected by the 5-month mandated closure as a result of the worldwide pandemic COVID-19. Each year at Cubicle Fugitive, our firm chooses one not-for-profit organization as our “big give”. Many families that enroll with Little Peoples Daycare come from modest incomes and the daycare truly goes above and beyond by hosting regular after-hours events. Cubicle Fugitive was thrilled to work with another non-for-profit local business and to learn more about the inner workings of the daycare facility, its long-standing history, and its dedicated community involvement.
Cubicle Fugitive first assessed the daycare’s current website structure, design, content, and Google Analytics data. We met with the owners to discuss their brand, vision, and objectives for the website project and concluded that the end goal would be to create a site that accurately represents who they are, the programs they offer, and their competitive advantage, which includes the facilities, their community involvement, as well as their long-standing history. Our scope of work for this project included a full re-mapping of the daycare’s content and website architecture, copywriting, website design, development, and search engine optimization.
The overall design of the website is fun and approachable from the various colour palettes to its cheerful photography.
To start the project off on the right foot, Cubicle Fugitive interviewed the main team at Little People Daycare, so we could get a feel for who they are, and ensure these sentiments were carries across the website design and website copy.
The overall design of the website is fun and approachable from the various colour palettes to its cheerful photography. It is intuitive and easy to use from both a visitor and administrator perspective. The website was built to target both new and existing families of Little Peoples Daycare. The search for a daycare can be stressful because you want to make the right choice. Every family has different opinions on what they believe is the best daycare. To make a family feel assured that the Little Peoples
Daycare is a top contender, we decided to emphasize their key differentiators which include their newly renovated and always expanding facilities. Their space features 10 large classrooms, a spacious gymnasium, an auditorium, a splash pad for the summer months, 2 outdoor place areas, and plenty of parking. To highlight each of these areas, we built a facility module that includes a summary of the space and an easy to edit photo gallery. In addition to the facilities, Little Peoples Daycare also offers families several fun events each year. These events are hosted at the daycare during and after school hours where family and friends can come together and celebrate as a community. We built the events pages to highlight photography from past years' events with brief summaries of each, so a family to see all the memories they can make with Little Peoples Daycare. Last but not least, the daycare not only has a long-standing history in the community, but their team has been at the daycare for 20, 30, and some even 40 years! They are a family run business that values their employees. Children and their caregivers can rest assured that the people they meet on day one will be the same people they see at graduation.
The daycare is also very active on social media where they post daily updates on news, events, activities, crafts, songs, and more. We recommended that they include this great content on their website under the Learning Corner for families to easily access on their website. Built like a blog, the Learning Corner allows the daycare the ability to easily update the material, and categorize their posts by crafts, science experiments, songs, and more, so if parents are ever looking for some fun activities to do with their children they can visit the blog and filter based on their search criteria.
