Progressive Contractors Association: Website Design and Development

The Progressive Contractors Association (PCA), representing Canadian contractors with a CLAC-unionized workforce, is committed to building a more competitive construction industry and improving work opportunities for its members. Acknowledging its outdated digital presence, PCA partnered with Cubicle Fugitive to develop an intuitive and visually appealing website. This new site aims to better communicate PCA's role and values to its members and the broader industry, ultimately enhancing PCA's brand while providing a dynamic resource for users.

To meet the association’s objectives, Cubicle Fugitive conducted an extensive audit of its current marketing materials, analytics, and competitors, using the results to develop a site navigation that seamlessly addresses its various target audiences. Once the new structure was approved, Cubicle Fugitive designed a new website that incorporated content, design and technical elements to prioritize the user experience through a clean, modern, and intuitive interface.

Understanding the unique industry that PCA operates within, Cubicle Fugitive incorporated creative design elements to effectively communicate to the Association’s distinct audiences. This included incorporating custom imagery throughout the website, depicting PCA’s member project sites, creating a more personal visual experience. We also used the association’s new colour palette, as established during the logo design, representing growth, trust, respect, and innovation.  Most notably, during the brand exercise, we identified that PCA acts as the liaison between members, industry, and government – having important conversations and effecting meaningful change within the construction industry. Cleverly, we chose to incorporate word “conduit” into their brand as a nod to the construction industry and to articulate this important characteristic of the association. In the website design, we chose to visually bring the “conduit” concept to life by incorporating an animated design element, which is infused throughout the pages. Every detail on the website was strategically incorporated with the intention of reinforcing the brand and communicating to key stakeholders.

By prioritizing the user experience, accessibility, and modern design principles, the new website enhances PCA’s visibility, credibility, and engagement with its diverse stakeholders.

PCA’s new website was designed and developed with the goal of creating a seamless user experience and to provide PCA with a dynamic digital tool to engage their members and key audiences. Users visiting the site are met with website pages that are easy to navigate, have concise messaging, and clear call-to-actions (CTAs). As an association trying to attract new members, Cubicle Fugitive also custom created a “member 360” graphic which was incorporated on its Prospective Members page. The graphic, which can be found at the bottom of the page, is an interactive element that helps PCA quickly and dynamically showcase the core benefits of becoming a PCA member. From a backend perspective, PCA’s administration team is greeted with a highly user-friendly content management system (CMS), allowing them to regularly make updates, interlink content with the click of a button, and add new content within minutes.

By prioritizing the user experience, accessibility, and modern design principles, the new website enhances PCA’s visibility, credibility, and engagement with its diverse stakeholders.

The redesigned PCA website serves as a fresh, dynamic hub for information and advocacy within the construction industry. Since its launch, the new website has experienced increased traffic and engagement, and the client is thrilled with the final product.
